Great trip. It is amazing what you can do in a day with an RV. I am dreaming about doing the same kind of trip to William Creek and about a thousand other places myself, and hopefully not to far in the future.

I spent my time shopping with the ?commander in Chief? (wife....) and entertaining visitors who kept "dropping in" so I only managed a couple of hours on the 8 in the whole 3 days!

I have finished the cowls and the gear leg fairings, the next thing is to get at the wheel covers (spats) Then painting!!

You have to be careful with it though, because it takes almost no time at all to get to places which are so isolated that you're highly unlikely to be found before you die if there's an accident.

I've found myself paying very close attention to emergency preparation during these trips. Spot tracker AND 406MHz GPS beacon, just in case. 10 liters of emergency water in the baggage compartment for desert crossings. First aid kits, signal mirrors, clothes that are good for extreme heat and extreme cold (it was minus 2 Celsius at Rawnsley Park on Saturday night, would hate to be in the middle of the desert with a broken leg waiting until first light for a rescue helicopter...)

Thanks for that Mark. We're planning to get away for a few days at the end of June. We are undecided, to do the Lake Eyre run or head north??

At this time of year I'd make the decision closer to the trip on the basis of weather.

I've always wanted to visit the B747 at Longreach. Maybe keep that as an alternate!

Yeah, that's what we are doing.

Longreach is going to be a weekender or a "go via" on the way up or back when we go north.
