taking a moment to ask if others have had this concern with the SJ Cowl. On the left side of the cowling the cowl extends out from the fuse about 5/8", on the right side it lays perfectly - yes it is centered. If you have done a SJ Cowl on an 8 is this something I just need to strap down and install skybolts or is this a concern? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Total non issue. Strap it down, skybolt or hinges, youl be fine.

Be sure to check your clearance on the left side before using hinges. Mine was actually in contact with Cyl #2 and I had to re-do it. All is well now and I have about 1/4" of clearance there, but it was a ton of extra work. I used the Dan Horton method and laid up the joggle instead of using hinges or the camloc mounting strip. I used nutplates on the horizontal interface to get the clearance. Hing eyes will eat about 1/16th. Do a search and you'll see my thread with pics, it was pretty recent, month or two ago.
