Default Checkoway method a thing of the past

There are two -7 builders near me who did not finish their wings all that long ago. They used the Checkoway method to do the z-clips for the wing tanks. I received my wing kit this January (2023).

It looks like the z-clips are now pre-drilled for the nutplates and the tank rear baffle, to be aligned with the holes in the spar and the baffle. I haven't gotten far enough into the construction to find out how well everything fits/aligns, but I'll sure be curious to find out.

Has anyone received the pre-drilled z-clips and gotten to the point where you can verify the success of the tank alignment?

This would be a game changer. The z brackets were a real pain for me.

Kits have been shipping with these parts for well over a year. Maybe two.

Yes! I received my wings summer 22….. they are built and in the wing, everything lines up and fits perfect, aligned and snug. No need to do any of that silly “pre aligning”.

Before I started my project I did a lot of reading. Way too much
So before receiving any part I was reading about "The Checkoway Method". It sounded complicated and I couldn't grasp what problem it was solving. At the same time it sounded as very very important. I even lost some sleep over it.

Of course everything seemed very logical once you started with the task and I was very satisfied with the result.

Funny enough, the method was not invented by Dan Checkoway and Dan always resisted getting the honor for it. It was first published by Steve (Stu) Hurlbut. This was all "way before my time".
