IO-360 cracked case

Hi guys.

Its really hard to find a good engine for my RV here in Oz. But I have now discover a local one for sale, good compression with 1000 HTR but it has a crack in the crank case leaking oil.

How much work is involved to get this repaired and what ballpark figure would I be looking at for a repair?

Thanks AJ

Depends.

AJ, it depends where the crack is. Some are not repairable due to their location, so be sure that the seller understands that he'd have to guarantee the case to be repairable or absorb the cost of a good used one or a new one if you can't find a used one.

Surely there are places in Oz that can do the work.

Best,

If you are trying to save money, give Greg a call at Suncoast Aero, he often has engines which they overhaul and zero time, might save you a few bucks.

Otherwise for the less trouble option, XIO360 from Vans.

If I remember right it cost around $800 for my IO-360 case to be inspected and repaired. It had a crack.
