Perhaps Doug is posting this elsewhere...if so, I yield the microphone.

Jack Pelton, EAA CEO, announced this morning that SolidWorks, the popular CAD program, is now a free benefit of EAA membership. This is the student edition only which has an MSRP of $150 but is available on the net for $86.

Or if you don't have facebook... go to www.eaa.org/solidworks

Forums on the topic of "SolidWorks" are scheduled at Airventure this week in Homebuilders Corner.

As many of you are probably engineers and already know, but this is a tremendous deal! Solidworks is a many thousands of dollars program that is one heck of a tool. Nice job EAA

Solidworks for EAA members is a great benefit!

For those who are not EAA members or are looking for a solid [pun?] alternative, there is AutoDesk Fusion 360.

It's about 90% of the AutoDesk Inventor product but free to hobbyists, students, and startups (so it can be used for designing products that you intend to sell).
