New Dynon Ad - RV-12 'Sweetie'

We've been running ads highlighting various experimental aircraft. This month it is Bill Hollifield's beautiful "Sweetie", the first customer built E-LSA RV12 flying with a factory SkyView. The ads will run in the next editions of KitPlanes and Sport Aviation. And just in time to celebrate Sweetie's first flight this week.

We placed Sweetie flying near Sedona, AZ... the plane hasn't made it there yet but Bill tells me that he has.

That is a wonderful idea! The plane surely deserves being a cover girl and a great representative for Dynon Skyviews.

Beautiful

Truly a work of art for your adds. Incidentally, has anyone else noticed how 'empty' the RV-12 panel looks with one SkyView installed? There must be an affordable and functional piece of equipment that would fit. Any recommendations? Dynon Aera (sp?).:D

FWIW, I agree that it looks a bit sparse - a real shame after seeing the early demos with a pair of Skyviews. I think a Garmin Aera 5xx is probably a good add, or maybe there's enough space for an iPad mount (Premier Mount IPM-100 would seem like a nice way to go if there's room).

A second SkyView is a nice addition. You do have to watch your power budget, but there are a lot of Rotax 912's flying with dual SkyViews. Van's cannot recommend it because they offer the RV12 Lighting Kit, which also takes power and would put you over your budget if you had both. But you can buy and install a second SkyView at a later date from us or a dealer. Again, you are responsible for calculating and documenting your power budget if you do.

PS: Note, the SV-MAP-270 GPS Navigation License you receive with your Avionics Kit from Vans allows the SkyView navigation features to function on BOTH displays installed in one airplane; an additional license is not required.

Well deserved honors!

Bill, first D.R. puts you on the front page for the weekend and now Dynon honors you as well!
You and Sweetie deserve the attention. Good going.

Is there anyway to increase the power budget so that we can have dual Dynon and the lighting kit work without stressing the electrical system?

Read this thread

and follow the links to see what the CTLS has powered from a standard Rotax without additional power.
Besides the bulky Rotax secondary alternator, there is an aux alternator that fits on the PTO on the back side of the gearbox. Some vac pumps fit there. Would probably require changing out the nose pitot. Also no one has discussed integrating two such power sources.
I haven't confirmed this but someone said the new fuel-injected Rotax has more electrical power without the secondary alternator, which might be a retrofit possibility. $$$?
