Intake painting question

Charles in SC

Well Known Member
I am installing the air filter snorkle. I have a James cowl and intake which is fiberglass. My question is should the air filter snorkel be painted on the inside? I can think of reasons to paint or not paint. If you did not paint what did you do? Thanks in advance!

Charles,
I painted in the outside for looks.
I did NOT paint the inside.
Not sure I could think of any good reason to paint the inside.

Inside and Outside for me..

I sealed and painted inside and out on mine..partially because of my OCD,but primarily to keep items from sticking/ease of cleaning...and I can see it when I look into it!.

I painted the outside as well, with Rustoleum paint. Takes forever to dry, but it sticks to raw fiberglass with a vengeance!

Intake Painting Question

My snorkel is not painted inside nor outside. I did, however, have mine split at the forward facing seam after 12 years and 1000 hours. Re-glassed it and all is well. Wonder if paint would have changed anything...
