We arrived before the NOTAM went into effect last year. Ground control asked where we were heading and didn't know "Homebuilt Camping" when we told them. They essentially told us to not hit anything on our way wherever we were going (It's either side of the P1 taxiway, for future reference should they ask). We parked ourselves, as there were very few if any volunteers on hand, but we were by no means alone as there were easily a few dozen aircraft already settled in.
There isn't much open that far ahead of the weekend, but we did see the Welcome Wagon out and about later on and we were able to exit the grounds; the grocery and shopping center just north of North 40 isn't an unreasonable walk if you require it.
