RV Build - Take Two

After selling my last project I had immediate sellers remorse. Basically before it was out of the driveway.
So about a year later I begin again. This time with quite a bit of head start thanks to a great builder in Colorado.

My RV-14A project has begun - or at least the waiting stage. It?s at the QB stage in wings and fuse and the emp is done. Now I?m waiting for shipping- hopefully sometime in April.

I am passing the time organizing the shop and building a bench and wing stand. This time opting for the shorter wing stand that doesn?t take up as much shop space.

My wife will remind me not to sell this time as I have promised her some good cross country flights at some point.

Finishing Kit

Received the kit in good shape. Thank you to Stewart Transport. I highly recommend them for your RV shipping. Takes most of the worry out of the equation. Experience and right equipment with built in crane in their truck.

And Vans does great job of crating. Just a few items on back order- main gear legs but I?ve got plenty to do before I get to those.

Now to finish inventorying and keep moving.

Back to Work!

Dreaded Canopy Section 38

One month into canopy section. I’m reading and re-reading manual carefully as I’ve heard this is one of most difficult or prone to error areas. The canopy assembly is taking shape. Ironically after getting it mostly together I came to the step that says now disassemble the canopy assembly completely. About 200 clecos in. I’ve heard others say this how you do a ton of steps final drill a few holes and then it’s take it all apart. Lol. Not complaining just funny feeling after a month of work. On to the next step.

Cold in Texas

Cold weather here in Texas has me itching to get some sort of progress on the plane. Feels like -7 degrees in the workshop and not set up for heating since we usually don’t need it.

Pulled out the last few pieces I need to peel and prep for priming. So at least got something done. And my better half even decided to try out peeling off the blue stuff.

Hoping for better building weather soon.
