I thinking ahead about installing the GRT Discovery adsb-in that I ordered two months ago. Because of limited space behind my panel, and the need to install an external antenna required by the unit, I’ve decided to place the unit and antenna behind the cargo panel running wire forward to the EFIS units. I’m not a builder.
Discovery instructions want the adsb-in antenna installed on the bottom of the aircraft. I’m thinking it will require placing a doubler in the area of the antenna since the skin is so thin - does the herd agree? If so how large should the doubler be? 2x2”; 3x3”; larger? I’m also thinking of using pull rivets because of the location - suggestions on # and spacing? I have touch up paint to dab on the rivets.
