Aircraft Placards - Replica

So what is the position of the legal authorities with regards to installing a placard (non-required) on an experimental, home built aircraft?

We have placed several placards on our landing gear, and in the cockpit, taken directly from a WWII fighter aircraft. The procedure stated on the placard does not apply to this plane, and the placard is installed to create an authentic look, in other words, "eye candy".

It is highly doubtful that anyone would ever make the error of following the directions stated on the placards, as it is simply impossible. And these do not affect the safe operation of the aircraft.

Note that the FAA required placards have been installed.

What say you?

edit: Just got an answer from a DAR. Bottom line? These are "replica only" placards. Not installed for functional purposes. The FAA does not care.

In my quick look through the regulations, they specify which placards must be displayed, and do not mention ones that cannot be displayed or must be removed. As long as they don't contradict your actual required placards (e.g. a list of aerobatic maneuvers and speeds your plane can't do), sounds like you're good.
