Tail wheel replacement........

I'm sure this has be covered somewhere but can't find it. I would like to replace the fork & post portion of my stock Van's Tailwheel with one that would give me greater height (say 2-3"). Does anyone make one that is a direct replacement for fork & post only. I'm lazy and don't want to have to replace the tail spring or standard post bracket. I want plug & play.

Help would be appreciated.........Thanks

There is plenty of discussion on this very topic:

I went with Doug Bell's tailwheel but I'm not flying yet, so I have no feedback. Check those links above for several comparrisons.

Good luck!

Some current feedback on the Doug Bell model (lots from awhile ago to check)...

Just got mine a couple weeks ago. There was a backlog early on (if you read the history), but they are in stock and available now.

Works great! Way more clearance, and better handling than the stock fork. Crisper. Very happy with the upgrade.

We've got what you need. Better clearance, better handling, and sleeker than the rod steel types. In stock and ready to ship.

We have replacement forks, replacement parts, tailwheel tires, or complete tailwheel units. And a LOT of other RV specific gadgets.

I have the proto type Vince Fraizer replacement fork and have about 400 hours on it. It is one of the best add ons you can make to your aircraft.
I also have the tail wheel that I believe he sells. I just checked my wheel and it also has at least 400 hours and the bearings are just like new.
I am sure the other tail forks work well but with this particular model you can easily install a Van's tail faring. Good for at least a 10 knot increase in appearance and has operated from my grass strip for the last four years.

I went with Vince!

Hi Chuck!

I went with Vince Frazier's tailwheel set up and LOVE IT! Better ground clearance, better handling, inexpensive, and I think looks great. Very happy! Easy install too.

Your engines twin continues to run GREAT! Love my -4!
