Canopy of an 8 separated in flight - May 8?

I was just looking at the NTSB accident and incident reports and saw an 8 had a canopy come off in flight and they landed without incident. I searched the posts here and didn't see anything about it. It would be interesting to know how the plane flew without the canopy. The pilot sure kept his cool and flew the plane to make a safe landing. Nice job.

* I am sure glad the NTSB went back to reporting accidents in a format that is actually readable!

Bored an brousing the FAA web site is great. I got a good chuckle out of this one. I definately feel for the guy!!! But you have to appreciate the FAA's terminology etc.

(-23) PILOT WAS PRACTICING TAXIING, PILOT GROUND LOOPED A/C DOING MINOR DAMAGE. PILOT HAD NO INTENTION OF FLIGHT. PILOT HAD BUILT THE AIRCRAFT AND HAS NO TIME IN THE AIRCRAFT DURING FLIGHT. ADVISED PILOT HE NEEDS MORE PRACTICE.

canopy separation

It would be helpful to know how what method was used to attach the canopy and whether the separate occurred between the canopy and frame, or otherwise.
