Default Canopy- to drill or not to drill

Since I didnít go to Osh this year I did a little more trimming on canopy 2.0 in preparation for Sikaflex.

Over all fit looks pretty good (see photos). Iím about to drill the latch hole that should lock everything else in. I checked for canopy frame symmetry and both bows are equal front and back, so it looks good.

I have a small gap along the top of the forward bow thatís from the latch/frame.

I still need to trim the sides. Right now they are even with the bottom of the frame. They should be even with the top of the sides, right? I canít tell with the plans to well

Thoughts or cautions?

Default Canopy prep

That's a pretty darn good fit. Feel free to read my Kitplanes articles on Sika bonding the canopy. Happy to help if I can.

Iím using your article as a reference. How much overhang along the front bow? Did you trim the side of the canopy above the frame side bar?

You don't want it extending past the front bow. It's possible it could contact the roll bar depending on how everything matches up. The windshield trim covers the canopy as far back as you want. Even with the front bow is perfect.
I cut the sides to fit the canopy brace. I used Sika along the brace on the sides. Above the square side bow. I've seen builders cut it even with the bottom if the sqaure tube but it requires the bow be adjusted for the thickness and flex. Remember the plexi flexes the bow about 1/4" each side.
