New anti-ice technology

Rough coating the surface

This SLIPS sounds good but I wondered about the need to apply a "rough material" to the surface before applying the slippery nanostructures coating. How's that going to work on a nice paint job? Does it go over leading edge erosion coatings or does it replace them? Hmmmm . . .

Nanostructures are very interesting though. I just bought a nanostructure based spray that I use on the front of my motorhome. It makes the paint slippery as all get out. Bugs just slide right off. Pretty amazing.

I dont care if it looks like rubber dog poo... if ice wont stick to it, im a buyer!

Never Wet..

I rea about Never Wet a while back in GizMag (online webzine for new technoligy). It seems like a great technology and will hopefully make it into paints and/or clear coats for planes and boats. Of course, we homebuilders probably won't be able to afford the technologies until we're riding on the backs of flying pigs.
