GNS 430 connection to newly upgraded GTX330ES

GNS 430W connection to newly upgraded GTX330ES

I have a GNS430W that is connected to my GTX330. I just received the GTX330 back with the ES upgrade. Can anyone point me to the interconnect information for the 430 / GTX330 ES / ADS-B connection.

I have Ref F of the 430 installation manual that covers the interconnect but it does not mention ADS-B, specifically.

You can find a copy here.
 
Your 430 will need to be upgraded to 430W for connection to 330ES for ADS-B.
That requires a return to Garmin for the upgrade.

If not already done the 430W needs a software update as well. Usually done at a local avionics shop and they can tell you what wire to add between the two and the proper port set up. Larry

Look at the RS232 out options on the 430W. Do you see "ADS-B+"? (not "ADS-B"). If so you're all set, that's what you use. If not, you need the software upgrade.

Hello rock714,

Even if you don't have a G3X system, page 24-19 of the Rev. Y G3X Installation Manual shows the typical wiring for a GNS 430W to the GTX 330ES.

1. Configure the RS-232 Input on the GTX 330ES connected to the GNS 430W to "Remote"
2. Configure the RS-232 Output on the GNS 430W to "ADS-B+"

This posting identifies the minimum software version needed for your GNS 430W.

Typically you need to add another wire from the 430W to the 330ES. Typically there is no serial output from the 430W to the transponder, so you need RS232 Out #2 (P4001 pin 58) or RS232 Out #3 (P4001 pin 41) or RS232 Out #4 (P4001 pin 54) to RS232 In #2 (P3301 pin 24) assuming RS232 In #1 (P3301 pin 22) is being used for encoder altitude in. As mentioned, the extra serial output would need to be set as ADS-B+ on the 430W.
