I have talked at length with the U.S. Rep for Element. There is no negative effect on aluminum.

The only negative effect of using in the cockpit is that you will be in a cloud for at least 50 seconds unless you have some way of swiftly evacuating the air from the cockpit. 50 seconds is a very long time to be, for all practical purposes, blind.

Having said that, I still intend to carry one in my airplane because most fires don't happen in flight, but on the ramp.
