Hi.
This photo is of the port-side elevator horn on an RV-6:
Looks like stone chip damage.
Aside from covering it all up with 100mph tape, my first draft at a repair scheme would be to tidy up the frayed threads with a Dremel, pack some epoxy/microballoons mixture into the cavity (which is smaller than it looks in the photo -- a squirt with a syringe would do the trick), put a layer of glass over the top, and repaint.
Any better ideas?
