O-360 snorkel cowling mods

Just curious.....

Has anyone building with the snorkel bottom cowl extended the snorkel opening towards the prop more and then added a foam / glassed wedge above to improve manifold pressure and drag reduction?

Should work in theory but just curious if anyone has tried it and has noted improvements.

I don't have personal experience with this, but a friend in the hangar next door just finished a Lance Air Legacy with a Continental 0-550. He reports a 4" increase in MP when he opens the filter bypass. That Legacy is nearly 100kts faster than our RV-6.
