I made the switch and pulled my right Bendix Mag and put in an E-Mag. I picked it up used and it was freshly overhauled. Very noticable difference in the smoothness of the engine, especially at low power settings. No detectable difference in static rpm. At 8000' however, I picked up somewhere between 1.5-2 mph, also noteworthy is the fact that doing a mag check at that altitude gave very little drop on the emag whereas the mag dropped alot more. I guess that part about electronic ignitions being more efficient up higher is true :)

Mag drop should be less than 125rpm per side. Over rich fuel mixture can cause a higher rpm drop when doing a run up. The less rpm drop on a 1/2 EI system is usually because the lower RPM and MP advances the timing into the 30+ degrees which allows the flame propagation to be more efficient at these settings.
