Primer types: mono/bi, spray/can, epoxy etc

I have to start my second plane and would like to have more comprehension on prime. First time I used an epoxy two component primer, which is the top solution.

Now I would like to use something lighter and quicker. But I have no background on primers. On the web I can see self-etching primers, zinc primers, epoxy primers..., mono component primers, bicomponent primers.

Can someone explain briefly the main differences? I used spray primer and it used to be less sticky than the epoxy-have-to-mix stuff. So, I understand the best is bi-component epoxy primer to shoot with my own gun.

But what is the "ladder"? At the base is... At the top is...

Thanks.
