Heavy Nose gear? wheelpant?

I have a Subaru engine in my RV-6A and the nose weight is 332lbs. With the extra engine weight and 35 psi in the nose tire, the axle bolt to floor measurement is 5 1/4" verses 5.5" per the plans. Should I adjust the Nose wheel pant center to center alignment height downward from the suggested 6 13/16"? This is reflected on drawing C1.

Yes, I would adjust the measurement as necessary to achieve the same angle of incidence in flight. What weight are most people getting on the nose wheel?

If you are nose-heavy, you might look for ways to move the CG aft. Trim drag accounts for 3-5% of the total drag so a forward CG may slow you down a bit.

My 6A weighed..

....245# on the nosewheel with a 180 Lyc and a Catto three blade and Skytech starter. The Subies are typically heavier, as are CS prop equipped airplanes.

Best,

6A nose weight

Mine came in at 259 lbs. 0-360 with a Catto with heavy Starter and Alternator.
