Service Letter L180B, Preservation of Active and Stored Aircraft. (Available on Lycs web site.)
There is really no way to best store an engine, but common sense is temp controlled and dry, first.
Next I got this from Lyc folks in the know is fill it to the gills with OIL. More oil less air less corrosion. Also upside down to keep the cam in oil. The bad news is with this method oil will come out of exhaust and intake ports. Trust me. So you need to block everything completely. This technique is unofficial but works. I think it took 18-24 qts to fill it up. I used plan motor oil
