What gauge Electrical wire do you use?

What gauge Electrical wire did you use? I have a spools of wire out of a
aircraft factory and I was wondering what is the gauge, number of wires, and was it sheilded? I was was going to keep some and sell the rest on Ebay.

Here's a wire chart from Aeroelectric.com that will give you some idea. You need to determine the load that you need to handle for each use and then determine the size needed.

Have lot's of #20 on hand because I think #20 can be used on most of the circuits in the aircraft because since almost all equipment you'll use is under 7A. For the rest of what you'll need, try to buy smaller quantities as required.

But use the chart to see if you NEED to use a larger wire for higher load circuits. There are obvious exceptions like pitot heat, etc.

RV's are not exactly a forest of wires as would be much larger aircraft so the weight penalty of using #20 even when #22 would do is neglible.
Now if you're wiring up a 747, that's a different story...
