Replacing GTX-327 with GTX-328

Hi Guys,

I need to change my Garmin GTX-327 transponder for a GTX-328 (Mode-s) unit. Can I keep the tray and simply replace the units or do I need to change the tray too ? In other words, are these two units pin-compatible ?

Been There Done That

No the pin out is different and the 328 tray is longer.
We got ours from Harry Mendelssohn who pre wired a loom that I could easily connect in. The wiring of the loom was first class. If you get a loom made you will need to sort out which encoder you are using so that this can be incorporated into the loom. Note some older encoders do not use all of the 328 pins.

Is this 328 so that you call all switch mode s on and swamp atc???
