help with Vans chinese G-meter

I've a 21/4 inch G-meter from vans that broke. I looked inside and it seems to me that all that is wrong with it is the string that holds the weight in position broke. I've called the supplyer and someone there promised to send me the service manual page that shows the proper routing of the string through the various pullies, but I haven't got it yet (and I'm not confident that I will). If I could get that info I think I could do a repair myself.

Any ideas on;

1. Where else could I get a service manual diagram?

B. Any service vender who would do the repair for a reasonable fee considering it's a $200 meter?

III. Should I just can it and get a new one?

You might look at some of the new electronic ones, probably a lot better units. My g-meter has always shown .5 g's when it is really 1. Pile of junk.

I've fixed old g-meters by restringing them with fishing line, but you may be better off buying a GT-50 from Flight Data Systems.
