HS-301 Factory Defect!

Check your HS-301 skins. One was fine and drilled nicely to the skeleton. I discovered the defect on the second skin while trying to fit it.
The skin was bent wrong. The outboard edges are fine, but the inboard edges measure 19 1/2" and 19" 1/4" respectively to the leading edge.
I could not fit the skin properly.
Back to Van's for a new part.

New Skin in hand...

The error was caused by the person forming the part not keeping it against the stops when bending. They feel very few parts should be affected and the stops are set correctly at the factory. Just human error.
They gave me a new skin at no cost and I am back to building.

Bend error

Had the same problem on the same skin in my RV 8. They cheerfully replaced it. Had me scratching my head for a while, trying to figure out why things didn't line up properly.
