Glare Lights

I have a well-lighted paint area (12 8-foot tubes on a white ceiling 28x20'). Still, I was having problems really seeing paint application in the spray gun fan, in particular with clear. I needed some glare.

Here's the cure. The 4-foot double fixtures are about $9 each at Home Depot. They're pop-riveted together with a section of .060 scrap aluminum. The base is a scrap steel plate with a length of 1" square tube welded in the middle. I put some old casters on the base too. Drill two holes in the upright so you can mount the light high or low with a single 1/4" bolt. Low is good for spraying vertical panels, high for horizontal. Make two and put one at each end of the room. Position them so they light the workpiece at a flat angle.

For about $50, it made a big difference in my paint work.
