Recommendation for prop extensions

Anyone have any suggestions on 2.25" prop extensions for my 0-320 with fp 2-blade Catto? The options that I know of so far:

1. Vans Regular
http://www.vansaircraft.com/cgi-bin...6984810-128-714&browse=props&product=prop-ext for $290.

2. Vans Deluxe
http://www.vansaircraft.com/cgi-bin...84810-128-714&browse=props&product=deluxe-ext for $390.
This includes bolts. Is there really anything else that's different between this one and the one above?

3. Saber heavy
http://www.sabermfg.com/
Apparently Saber makes a heavy version especially for tail heavy aircraft. This is the one I am leaning toward as I want to maximize baggage capacity as close to the full 100# as possible. Have a message in with Saber, but don't know how much these run yet.

Any other suggestions?

Steve,

I wouldn't worry about the heavy one for your -9.

The NW RV's have the aft CG problem due to the location of the mains. The TW RV's seem to come out much better.

There is one O-320 power RV-9 on Dan's W&B page that should give you some idea of what to expect.

Thanks Bill (for the pm too). That other one has a MT constant speed. So far there are no RV-9's with 0-320's and fixed pitch in the database. Your configuration may actually be closer to mine than his.

Since these extensions are so expensive, I'd like to get the right one the first time, even if I have to guess a little to do it!

Saber only!

Hi Steve,
We just went through this and had a Van's extension originally. Our prop bolts worked loose, believe it or not, even torqued and safetied, and loosened the dowel pins in the extension.

We needed another one quickly and decided in favor of the Saber. Let me tell you, it's a work of art...nothing but outstanding workmanship and precisely crafted, American made, unlike Van's overseas units. I'd definitely do it again. All 12 bolts are provided..six hold the extension on and the other six hold the prop on.

Regards,

I don't see how you can possibly go wrong with Saber.
They are works of art!

Saber Heavy

Swapped out Vans extension (6 bolt) for the Saber 12 bolt with the heavy crush-plate, just this weekend. Most impressed with the quality. And best of all...it moved my empty CG Fwd almost 1.4 inches. My RV6 under Camping Conditions; (Pilot 200, Son 145, Gear 45 lbs: Must Land with 20 Gals !) is now 80 lbs gear and Must Land with 6 Gallons.
