Removing rivet halos on painted panel

Is it OK to use a filler like Bondo or Rage Gold on an already painted surface?

I just finished painting my panel last night. Overall, it came out very nice. I'm quite happy, and also perhaps a little greedy. A few of the rivets on my panel have a pretty definite halo to them. I don't mind seeing them, generally, it's just that they don't all show uniformly. I'm wondering if a little bondo over the halos, followed by a scuff sand and final topcoat would solve my problem. Or might I have any significant adhesion problems down the road by doing this? Basically, I'm asking because I've never used Bondo before.

Thanks.

Bondo will probably work, you must roughen up the surface a bit first. Spot putty will also probably work, it is designed for thinner application that Bondo.

It sounds like the panel is not mounted----------maybe you should just take it to a body shop, or a paint shop, and ask them what would do best.

Good luck.
