Thinking about flying to Marfa next week.

just see what it's like. Stay a night or two and come back to ADS.

Anything worthwhile to do there if you're by yourself? I assume there's some cool scenery within an hour by plane.

It's an art center so there are opportunities there if you are interested.

There is very very cool scenery, my favorite stuff is west and south.

I did a cross country from San Antonio to Marfa while building time for my commercial ticket. This was 4-5 years ago. The FBO there is great! I asked for a car to run into town for lunch, they told me all that was in town was a Dairy Queen. So the lady there made me lunch instead. Home cooked food beats DQ hands down!

If you spend a few nights, try and go the McDonald observatory. It is just north of Marfa in the Davis Mountains. The tour they have starts in the afternoon, with a break for dinner and then you return after dark for the outside astronomy presentation. Bundle up. It gets cold! Ft. Davis isn't bad either.

Ask about the 'Marfa Lights' at the airport. Very, very odd and so far inexplicable natural phenomena.
