RV dead stick

Saw on the news last night (Mar 13) a small plane landed on a highway somewhere in Utah. The pilot, passenger (his young daughter) and the aircraft are all OK. Some kind of engine problem.

The pictures looked like a side-by-side RV; a 6A or 7A - trike gear, sitting pretty as can be on the 2-lane roadway.

The pilot was wearing what looked like a VAN's ball cap.

The landing rollout required that he navigate under a narrow bridge.

Did anyone else see this or report more info?

These RV sure glide well evidently.

I always feel for the passengers in these instances. I wonder if they will ever trust again to get into a small aircraft.

maybe a grumman?

The power of the internet...

The FAA database shows that the chap named in the newspaper article owns a 1973 GRUMMAN AMERICAN AVN. CORP. Model AA-1B and lives in SLC.
Don't know if that's what's in the picture or not though...
