What size safety wire?

I know .040" safety wire is recommended/required for the 3/4" head bolts that secure an O-360 prop, but is .032" wire good for the 5/8" head bolts that secure an O-320 prop? Sheesh, that .040 is a bugger to work with when fishing up through a hole that faces the hub!!!

Safety wire is also used as an "indicator" so if you use .032 and check it each time you have the cowl off I don't really see the problem. Personally I've never heard of properly torqued prop bolts loosening up anyway! (this excludes wood props)

Depends upon your prop manufacturer. If you read the WhirlWind
installation manual it will tell you to safety with .032. Initially I wired with
.040 but most recently I re-safetied with .032 and it's much easier, much
easier. These are captive nut/bolts. They may get loose but they are not
going to come off by themselves.
