I had a good conversation with the owner of PTI today about their products. Has anyone here used their primers? They produce a wash primer, zinc oxcide and zinc chromate primer for sale via Aricraft Spruce.
It was suggested that I use their zinc oxcide or chromate for interior surfaces.
While vans is using what is described as a wash primer on my quick build, PTIs wash was described more as a pretreatment for an epoxy primer and not recommended without a top coat.
Without starting a large debate, would I be wrong in assuming that their wash primer is close to the Sherman Williams brand used by Vans? As this is a quick build I see no reason to epoxy prime or zinc chromate the tail when the rest of the frame is wash primer.
I am not knocking Vans choice of primers. I am sure a lot of thought went into their decision to use it. I just want to know if the PTI wash can be used as a substitute.
