S704 Wiring

Here's an additional question for those using Bob's Z-13:

In sizing wires per the Z-13 diagram on the S704 relay for the SD-8, most of the wires supporting the SD-8 are 12AWG. For the jumper from the + side of the contactor on the relay, to the COM tab, can I use something as low as an 18 or 20 AWG wire for this, I?m not sure of the current flow through this. Based on other posts on the subject, there?s only about .1A on the line from the contactor ground tab through to the breaker and switch, so I should be able to go to a much smaller wire here. Anyone have the answer for this one?

Jim,

I would think that would be prudent considering that it is protected by a #16 fusible link upstream.

The only "load" this wire should see is the coil and the OVM, whatever that should pull... probably not much.

In a fault condition, the current will not exceed 5A thanks to the overcurrent protection device.

Me? I would try and get at least a #18 in there.
