AP false speed reference

Today was my first flight with me new Trutrak 380. It flies great, but for some reason in a climb it gets the idea that I am at max air speed and tries to pull up too steep. I have the max speed set at 180kts and it does this as low as 80kts.
This does not happen when in level flight. I assume it is somehow getting a false indication from the pitto/static system. This is on a 6A. Anyone have this before or have any ideas?

I'm not familiar with the TruTrak AP but typically an AP will reference a MINIMUM air speed for climbs and a MAXIMUM airspeed for descents. Do you have a MINIMUM air speed you can configure in the TruTrak?
