got some junk mail from SPOT....
Looks like you can get a $50 rebate if you buy a new gen 3 dewice by christmas.
I hate the new subscription rates,however, it's really the same as I'm paying now for basic + tracking ( $150/year), but now I'll have the option for tighter tracking if I actually fly some X-country.
I wrote SPOT and b!tched about their rates, and said that DeLorme and others allowed you to buy by the month, or per track, rather than yearly, and they responded that they were sorry, and were considering further options.

I went to London Drugs and picked one up on their sale price of $149, regular $169, but I'm sure that's a moving target. ( caveat: You might only get the full $50 if bought for $169, or some such nonsense!)
