The pump that Mattituck includes, with the engine, is an engine driven mechanical pump. You will still need an auxiliary aircraft pump for starting and in case of engine driven pump failure. The kit that Van's sells are very popular with their aircraft and the same pump sold by AFP is very popular with many other kit aircraft. Price wise they are competitive with the certified offers from Weldon and Dukes. To the best of my knowledge the AFP pump has a very good track record, as far as reliability and durability is concerned.
