A great source for hoses is Aircraft Specialty Flightlines (Formerly TS Flightlines) who is an advertiser here. The hose will come with the proper swivel-nut end fittings and firesleeve. It will have the fittings swaged onto the hose, not threaded like your old one. You just need to tell them the length and diameter. See their website.Thank you so much. Those dell fittings are cool.
If I buy a new fuel hose do you have recommendations? Figured if I replace the hose also get new an fitting. Would you recommend steel or aluminum? Thanks.
my bet is that the hose was leaking at the hose-fitting assembly joint -- the part you disassembled. Not at the flare fitting.I was thinking that possibly that the an fitting caused a scratch in the aluminum fitting on the hose don’t know how but figured it’s the only culprit since it went to my bench a bunch. The hose never left its location.
The inside is teflon they seem to be in good shape but still old. My mechanic says I can possibly still use because of the inside being teflon not the black ones.Admittedly a hunch, but I'd bet those old rubber hoses would not pass the Rice Krispies test.
It was at flare fitting. I didn’t disassemble until multiple attempts at it stop leaking at flare.my bet is that the hose was leaking at the hose-fitting assembly joint -- the part you disassembled. Not at the flare fitting.
Possibly???My mechanic says I can possibly still use because of the inside being teflon not the black ones.
Regardless I just ordered new hoses from Tom. Part of the motivation was the fuel servo to spider was an older 303 style hose that I trust less so figured replace them both and get fire sleeve on that one. If the hoses seem to be taking a while to make i might do some pattern practice while waiting. Hoping the del inserts work if the new hoses take a bit. Thank you.Possibly???
What is the deciding factor regarding that decision?
This is not be my understanding, but I do not professionally make hoses.
Perhaps Tom at Aircraft Specialty Flightlines would be willing to comment.
If in fact it was a teflon hose---doesnt appear so with the collar you have (what little bit I can see) there would have been a compression ferrule over the liner that the socket (collar) compresses to seal the liner against the stem. Those little ferulles should be reused, as they are already compressed.Regardless I just ordered new hoses from Tom. I think you meant shouldn’t be reused. If in fact it was a teflon hose---doesnt appear so with the collar you have (what little bit I can see) there would have been a compression ferrule over the liner that the socket (collar) compresses to seal the liner against the stem. fat fingers should NOT be reusedI think you meant shouldn’t be reused.
