Slider Canopy Questions …9GT reply
I just went through the slider frame/Sika process a couple weeks ago. I had a heck of a time fitting the canopy frame. I ended up cutting the forward bow and TIG welding it into place. I went with the plans guidance for measuring and setting the spread width. Cut a couple boards to length, wired them in place , then Sika-Flex install the canopy. After cure and clean up, the canopy fell right in place perfectly on the rollers and the aft frame cleared the skins rolling it back.
H2AD Baffles…fixnflyguy reply
I have an H2AD in my-4. I fabricated all my own baffles without using any of the VANS kits. Pretty easy, and I started by building the entire thing from beer boxes (perfect cardboard). I then transfered to metal. I have pictures when they were naked without the seals and stuff if you need. I did have to relocate the oil door, as the H2 dipstick is in a different spot.
Drill the rear wing spar …YankeeBravo reply
I was underthinking this very important hole and ended up with it 5 degrees offset from perpendicular. (I was able to perfectly correct following Van's advise to enlarge to AN7). I strongly suggest to use a proper drill guide to make sure you are perpendicular in all axis as the surface is small and the line surounding misleading.

Increasing #3 CHT
Increasing #3 CHT
Hey - after a year or so of tinkering, I have my 10 cooling pretty well and have a pretty good balance of CHTs, with the exception of my #3 cylinder. Flying to breakfast yesterday, 1,2,4,5,&6 cylinders were all within 10 degrees, however, #3 was about 30 degrees cooler than all of the others...

22-Year-Old RV-6 Gets New Paint
I built my RV-6 22 years ago, it first flew on July 1, 2002. It's been it's whole life in Florida so not only was the original paint beginning to show its age, but there were a few areas of minor corrosion around the airplane that needed to be addressed. It was time to give this airplane a new...

Slider Canopy Questions
Hi all I'm building an RV-7 slider and I think I have the canopy frame bent to my liking. I have about a 1/4-5/16" inset from the fuselage sides to the canopy side bows to allow for the canopy frame growing wider by 1/2" (1/4" each side hopefully) after sika-ing the canopy on that Vans calls...

H2AD Baffles
I'm working on the baffles on my o320-h2ad powered 9a. So far I've been pretty happy with how they fit considering the engine is quite a bit different. I do have a few issues though: 1. I had to add a joggle around the filler tube. Will there be any issues putting the rubber on top at the...

Drill the rear wing spar
Folks, I mounted my wings today for the first time ……huge milestone. I am thinking about the step where you clamp and drill to 3/8” the rear spar for the AN-6 bolt. There is no steps to check incidence or level, etc. I checked my wings and the incidence is negligible and the wing tips are maybe...

Flap motor support
At the point of installing the electric flap motor. Fabricated the additional parts required. Then try to figure out why they don't seem to work. Was my "support beam" bent the opposite direction after punching the holes? Anyone else encounter this? Any ideas how to remedy this and build on...
