Van's Fuel Tank Sealing video vs my reality…CF86301 PIREP
When I built my RV-14A tanks, I mixed up a 6 oz cartridge of CS-3204 B2 for each baffle and applied it using a pneumatic applicator that I got for about $60 on eBay. I laid the tank flat on a workbench to do this, flipping it over after doing the top (or bottom) to do the bottom (or top), then flipping it vertical (leading edge down) to do the rib flanges. I had two assistants, one another new builder who wanted to see and participate in the process and the other currently an ERAU aerospace engineering student. That helped things go a lot faster. Once the tank was in the cradle, two of us carefully lowered the baffle into place and then all three of us started installing clecos to pull everything together. As soon as all the clecos were in I started pulling them out one by one and riveting. Did all the rivets including the Z-brackets in one session so the tank sealant would not have a chance to set up before everything was pulled tightly together.

I recently purchased a RV-12. I pulled the lower cowling yesterday and found that the bracket that was used to confirm to SB-000-64 was broken and part of it was missing. The bracket was installed in May '23 and the engine has ~20 hours since that time. Has anyone else experienced this issue...

Van's Fuel Tank Sealing video vs my reality
Thanks for taking us along on this journey. I am a couple months away from fuel tanks and I'm not sure if I'm more nervous or less nervous from your adventures, but I'm definitely more informed! Congrats on the leak free tanks, and glad you got through it!!

P 6-5 Step 1 RV-10 plans. Riveting the VS skeleton together. Successfully squeezed the VS-106 top rib but had trouble getting the yoke around the flange on the rear spar to rivet the inspar rib. Used the 2x gun and bucking bar for the 470AD4-4 rivet and cleared it. Drilled out but enlarged the...

RAM Ball Mount Location
I'd like to move that Ram ball mount from down low up to that more user-friendly higher locatin, as shown in the pic. But, I'm hesitant to drill holes in that triangular webbing. I worry about compromising structural strength if I do that. Are my concerns unnecessary? Thanks in advance, Randy

Left flap stuck
I have an RV6 with the electric flap kit installed. I did not build it. Took an x-country down to MD this morning and on the return flight to my home field when I went to deploy the flaps the aircraft started to roll. I stopped the flaps and could see that the left flap was only down a...

Engine Cooling When Parked....
I flew to Father’s Day breakfast fly-in last Sunday and another fly-in today. Both days had Heat Dome temps near 90F in the Ohio Valley… I used cooling fan to suck heat out of cowling when parked. Engine is nicely cooled for return flight…
