Fly faster

Ehhh, you sailplane guys... Last time I "practiced" in a 2-33 (June), I ended up "stuck" at 12,700' and had to use dive brakes just to get home for dinner.

There's no comparison. Trust me, a low-end glider flown dirty and sloppily (i.e. by a noob like me) doesn't even come close. The short wing RVs glide like the proverbial set of car keys! Especially with a c/s prop.
......
Dan... a fair day in the Mojave, only 12.7K ft....

But... did you try an approach to the field in the 2-33 at RV speeds (80+ kts)?
The 2-33 at this speed is an approximation of the set of car keys... :D

Fly it fast....

Note... applies to the 2-33, not a 2-32....

Good thread here guys..

I used to take my students up and give them option of "learning how to deal with a real dead stick.."

I'd say about half of them took me up on the offer.. I like to shut the engines off on any plane I am going to repeatedly fly..

I'd rather have my first dead stick, not be my first dead stick. :)

I had a dead stick on my first cross country solo, on final.. I was so focused on what I was doing, it took a minute for it to sink in... "Hmmmm.. that's interesting.. I can see the propeller..." and then, Oh, $#!T...I can SEE the PROPELLER.....!
