Maybe an AirBNB type of program so you can rent out your Lycoming engine for passive income while you're not using it... it's the only way I could afford a new one these days!
That's for sure! The rich can buy them, the rest of us not so much.
 
While not directly applicable to EAB, it seems worth noting that while TBO hours have been extended, the also-applicable calendar TBO was not - i.e., "All Lycoming engines are still required to be overhauled within twelve calendar years of entering service or last overhaul, regardless of operating hours."

I'm ~1100 hrs TIS and going on 22 years since new on an 0-320 in my Cherokee and she's got no signs of distress beyond a recent cylinder replacement. The previous owner flew very little for the first 12 years of its time on the airplane and we've put about 100 hours a year on it since 2016.

Similar experience here. My old beech's 0-360 was overhauled 36 years ago by Mattituck and now has 1200 hours on it. I put 400 hours on it over the past 2 years. Compressions all in high 70s. I also had to replace one cylinder, but zero issues otherwise

Doesn’t do me any good if the cam decides to disintegrate itself at 1100 hours for no apparent reason.
 
Haven't thought this through, just spit balling...

The effect won't necessarily be immediate.
If this affects engines already in the field it would have a much greater effect.

Flight schools run through TBO pretty quickly.
This says 8 million hours per year...

So at 2600 hours they would need to send them in for Factory Rebuild less frequently.
8M/2,000 hours = 4,000 engine rebuild per year
8M/2,600 hours = 3,076 engine rebuild per year

Could the 2600 hr TBO affect Factory Rebuild demand and lead times, which maybe could affect New engine build lead time?

Would that free up parts and resources in a meaningful way?
Would it also lessen demand for New engines? Would it impact New Build lead times?
