original antennae went out, got a new one but it takes more than five minutes to aquire satellites the n works fine. anyone got an idea whats the problem?

Inside the 400W is a small battery, that powers memory that remembers your last location. If that’s lost, the box has to search for the very weak signals, that takes time. If the battery is more than 8 years old it may need replacement.

bob can any avionics shop do this or does it have to go back to garmin which will be expensive?

There’s actually a DIY out there for us experimenters.
