It's on again!!!!

I will be managing the beer tasting again for all you early arrivals. Sunday 7/19, 1700, sort of… I try hard to hold it off.
To participate, You must bring in & contribute some of your best local brew to share with all. Be creative in your selection. I don't want to see any commercial brews like Bud Light, Miller Lite or Busch lite... Try it & You will be escorted out of HBC!

If you neglected to bring your own local; Spotted Cow or Oshkosh local beer will be acceptable.
We only want the best of the best.

BTW, This is not an official EAA event. So be covert in getting your brews to HBC.

We'll start collecting around 1500 to put it on ice.

You must be 21 yo to participate & please drink responsibly, so we may continue again next year.

A donation jar will be made available for ice & 100% of the proceeds will benefit HBC.

Please be respectful to others at HBC who may not be participating.

Just curious. I will be driving over to OSH this year. How can I being in my local favorite brew to contribute if I am not flying this year?

My last OSH Sunday beer-fest was 2023; was talking to another guy from Texas that brought a sixer of Shiner Bock. I stifled a groan and an eye roll... Shiner's not bad as an emergency hydration beer, but it's only a short step up from a Bud Light. Fellow Texans, we can do better than Shiner!! 😆

the last few years I rode my bike from Scholler with 2 6packs in a plastic bag right to the gate just east of the HBP. I had to keep my bike outside the fence, but I just told the guard I was taking them to the beer swap at the pavilion and they let me pass.

This is one (only one) of my gripes with EAA security. I am aware of (maybe a member of) groups of people who have CASES of beer under their planes in Vintage camping… And yet security turned me away with 6 beers in a cooler last year when I just wanted to go sit on the flightline and watch planes land.
I traded email with EAA after the show last year and told them that I thought this was stupid. I am sure the policy will remain this year.

I would not encourage anyone to break any rules, but there are a couple of parking lots south of the north 40 to the west of where they want you to enter the grounds that have no security checkpoints.

Lone Star falls into the "retail beer" category as well...

Oh, I could go on as well about the "rent-a-cops" that EAA hires.

Two years ago, an elderly Nazi security lady would not let me re-enter the gate at HBC with my folding bicycle (that I flew in with). Said it was illegal. Asked where to park it then. She said "I'll let you lean it against the inside of the fence here". The next morning, the bicycle was mangled to pieces as someone outside the fence tried to steal it. I ended up throwing the remnants in the HBC dumpster.

Last year, when walking to the SOS tent, a very overly self-valuing Barney Fife wannabe loudly YELLED at me because I happened to step one foot onto pavement before he had given the road crossing approval. After his verbal accosting, you should have seen his response when I said that I would not move. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I sent an email to EAA about the HBC gate guards. I did get a nice response. But seriously, EAA needs to remind these rent-a-cops that it is the attendees that are effectively paying them. Take it easy.

Community Mosaic from Dallas would be a nice Texan entry.

As a longtime volunteer I have to say I understand not allowing beer on the flightline. Not everyone behaves well even while sober in a very busy space that can become high risk very quickly. However, while camping in HBC for the first time last year we discovered there is legit beer sold inside the grounds in the North 40 at the convenience store but all the years camping in Vintage they've policed you coming in from the Red Barn from Schoeller with a pack of Leinies while letting a tent full of guys calling themselves pirates have an open party practically in full view of the gate. There is no logic here. Be discreet, be a good neighbor, that should be enough.

Can't wait everyone. Should be lots of fun. PLEASE be respectful of the starting time. Some of are volunteers and don't get off of work until around 4:30.

Completely agree with no alcohol on the flight line. We already have the one “drunk spectator steals Cub” routine, we don’t need someone trying it for real.

The North 40 is not on the show grounds and you still need to go through security to get onto the show grounds from there. If you can hitch a ride or use the welcome wagon they usually don't stop at the security check points.

Uhhh….sorry Cap, but the North 40 is definitely on the grounds - it is all within the airport fence and part of the show.
