TLDR: I have too many projects going on, and am planning to sell my 2007 RV-7A slider w/ a 1200hr IO-360 angle valve as a flying project (10+ hrs in the last 2 weeks). The single biggest squawk is also what will makes it considerably more affordable than maybe any other RV-7A: the right side of the panel had an electrical fire last year… that was extinguished with a dry chemical extinguisher by the prior owner.
While currently flying it could really use a new panel (or at a minimum, a panel refresh). Dry chemical thoroughly cleaned up by and basic work completed by an A&P IA (in an unsurprisingly expensive bill!). Conditional was signed off last month (March 2026) by that same A&P IA. No corrosion found during conditional inspection, but this will be worth paying a bit of extra attention to during inspections for the foreseeable future.
Asking $86,500 - but open to offers. It’s based in North Carolina just north of Charlotte. I’m flying it a couple times a week now.

I purchased this RV-7A about 6 mos ago as a project. I enjoy avionics, and thought it could fun and a plane I’d fly for years to come. I had always wanted an RV. Somehow, in the same 7-day span as I bought the -7A, I purchased a -14A project. I fell in love with and got carried away with the -14A; there’s a real chance it’ll be my forever plane. I am hoping to debut it at Oshkosh, and it is commanding all of my aviation time and attention (outside of flying my slow but almost-as-fun-as-an-RV SeaRey). At this rate, I worry it’ll be sometime this fall before I have the time to attack the -7A panel in earnest.
I flew the bird home from Texas to North Carolina (via Mississippi and Tennessee). It’s a blast; the RV Grin is very real. The IO-360 has around 1,200hrs SMOH. Airframe and Catto fixed pitch cruise prop both have around 1,150 hrs. I have logs for all. Dynon D10A and single axis autopilot and panel mounted Garmin 796 touchscreen VFR GPS. New digital tachometer installed, and temporary automotive style voltage, oil temperature, and oil pressure gauges. Automotive oil pressure gauge was unreliable, so it was replaced with a basic mechanical oil pressure gauge (installed hours after this photo was taken). I had planned to replace all with a new JPI engine monitor (replacing the damaged VM1000) as part of a panel refresh, but have not yet purchased.
More than happy to answer questions here or on a call. Traveling for work this week, but more than happy to take more photos / FaceTime / etc when back home.
Edited to add: other avionics are a Garmin GTR 200 comm radio and a Garmin GTX 345 transponder.
