I am about to run an electrical conduit in the VS and was trying to figure out how to attach it to the ribs when...

I saw this picture:

and was wondering where can I purchase those zip tie mounts. I have looked at a few different options but this seems like the product that I need. Of-course I can always use Adel clamps but I think the zip tie anchor option is cheaper.

Maybe these?

Seems like it would be a bit lighter to drill a hole in the web of the ribs for the bundle, and use the snap-in plastic bushings. And if there's room remaining it would be a lot easier to run additional wires in the future if you wanted.

I can envision quite a few uses for these...e.g., bundles which terminate in a connector (D-sub or other) which would be a royal pain to unpin in order to remove the bundle through a bunch of grommets, for one.

Seems like they're not readily available, though...or are available only in packs of 100 for several hundred dinero (ouch!).

If you find a source, let me know...I'd be interested in acquiring a few...

As usual, Mouser has them.

Three sizes are in stock with a minimum quantity of one....

Hope my link works...

I used a small piece of 3/4 angle riveted to the rib, which gave me a surface (in the correct plane) for Adels.

Try AN1033 or NAS1033 right angle nutplates. Gives the angle and a self locking nut to mount an ADEL.

Thanks for the link. Holy cow I did not realize they were so expensive. I like the idea of snap-in plastic bushings. Do you use RTV to secure it to the rib?

For the adel clamps idea... Do you use an angle piece onto the rib to give you a flat surface to mount the clamp? Then screw the clamp tight?

There are always so many ways to accomplish the same thing. Thanks all for the ideas.

An alternative?

TerminalTown seems to be gone - any alternatives you guys know of?

Thanks!

After looking for sources (after the original post), researching the longevity of materials, and considering the risk of failure, i just make some small angles of .025. some with holes for all-weather zip ties and some with rounded edges for lacing. Either two pull or solid rivets depending on structure location and build status. Quite light too.

YMMV

FYI - Mouser still lists http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=LHMS-S5

I use these Click Bond products to secure wires through larger holes:

Thanks - is that the CB4020V3N16 ? That was my plan B (for one, I don't have to contort to rivet something to my QB wing ribs) - if you've been using it successfully I guess I'll go that route as well.

Yep. I have a range of lengths on hand. I also use the Click-Bond flat zip tie mounts a lot. Here are the zip tie mounts I installed on the tail floor to secure wiring running fore and aft.
