Can anyone who has used the Garmin 496 or 396 in Canada tell me if they can get weather information with the basic Aviator LT subscription. From reviewing the website it appears as though coverage is only available in Canada with the $49.99 monthly subscription. Is this true? If not how far North have people received coverage.

The coverage you get is not tied to your subscription package. Apparently you can get decent XM reception a decent ways into Canada. But, you don't get access to Canadian weather information unless you sign up for the $50 data package.

The latest update from Canadian Owners & Pilots is that XM is no longer offering their beta of Canadian weather. There is good bleed-over of US coverage into southern Canada but no coverage other than that.
