Can a single xm weather antenna feed be split to both an AFS 3500(or4500) and a garmin 696.
I believe the antenna serial #is used for the weather subscription.

That is an excellent question.

Could you build a "splitter" and connect the male miniUSB to two male miniUSB's? I don't see why not. Could not hurt to try.....maybe.

2 cents

i took someone's xm antenna and it worked in my unit. it was working in the other unit just before so would it have worked in both units at the same time? sounds like you should try and if it works dont tell anyone. my 2 cents. i had an antenna go bad so i did some testing with another unit.

There are many reasons, but mainly because of this -- the communication between the antenna and the gps itself is bi-directional. The antenna is not just a passive antenna...it's the actual receiver with it's own cpu.
