Finally getting around to mounting my XM weather antenna under the cowl. The XM manual says the mounting screws are: M3 x 0.5. Can anyone translate what "M3" means in Home Depot terms? I'm assuming the 0.5 is length in inches. Thanks.

I believe that an M3 x 0.5 is a screw where the diameter is 3.0 mm and the thread pitch is 0.5 mm.
